Where you'll be working
Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. What you'll be doing
The carpenter performs efficient and compliant reactive maintenance works and planned maintenance activities for all building fabric including mandatory inspections in a cost effective and timely manner.

As the Leading Hand this role supports the trade team to perform their daily reactive and planned maintenance activities. The Leading Hand will also assist the Maintenance Manager in engaging trade team and clinical staff on planning maintenance activities.

The role provides carpentry services in line with the NSW Health total asset management guidelines, ensuring compliance with statutory, legislative and code requirements including satisfying Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) strategic and business objectives.

Essential Criteria:

Qualifications:  Trade qualification in carpentry with a tradesman’s certificate of competency.

Carpenter Level 1: Completed Apprenticeship and/or holds relevant trade certificate or equivalent
Carpenter Level 2: 120 hours of approved courses completed
Carpenter Level 3: 240 hours of approved courses completed
Carpenter Level 4: 360 hours of approved courses completed

Selection Critera:

  1. Trade qualification in carpentry with a tradesman’s certificate of competency.
  2. Demonstrated experience working with power tools and wood cutting machinery.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of building and construction related Work Health and Safety guidelines.
  4. Demonstrated ability to prioritise and successfully undertake work in a busy, dynamic role with a minimum of supervision.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of software programs (eg: Word, Excel, Outlook).
  6. The ability to maintain stock and workflow in a Carpentry workshop.
