An exciting opportunity exists for Allied Health Assistant in the Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) Medical Imaging department. The position would suit an individual with interest in working in a health related field, developing skills in patient care, manual handling and/or possessing Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance. This role would also suit a trainee Radiographer/Nurse looking to gain exposure to a Medical Imaging department, whilst supporting the clinical services within the environment.

Where you'll be working
Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) is responsible for providing care to patients who reside within the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD), but also to several state-based services in line with hospital specialties. The successful applicant to this position shall be working within all modalities of the RNS Hospital Medical Imaging Department, based in St. Leonards NSW.

What you'll be doing

Primarily a manual handling patient care role, the successful applicant will be working closely with a team of trained professionals providing a high-quality diagnostic and interventional service. This will involve assisting with patient positioning during mobile x-ray rounds, patient transfers in bed or wheelchair, lateral transfers onto examination table, utilisation of patient lifters and other manual handling devices, and restocking linen and consumables across the imaging fleet of modalities (amongst other less frequent tasks).

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance or willingness to undertake this training or other qualification deemed equivalent by NSLHD.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the role of an Allied Health Assistant within a large organisation. Ability to work independently under the delegation of an AHP and the ability to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team.
  4. Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage workload demands and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required) as delegated by supervising AHP.
  5. Demonstrated interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
