An exciting opportunity has emerged to join the senior leadership team as the After Hours Nurse Manager on a temporary part time basis.

Ryde Hospital is currently undergoing $479 million redevelopment. This redevelopment will provide significant opportunity for innovative approaches to clinical practice in a modern, purpose built facility that has the community needs at the forefront in planning and design. Where you'll be working

Ryde Hospital

Ryde Hospital is 194 bed general hospital providing acute services including emergency medicine, general and sub-specialty medicine and general and sub specialty surgery.

Subacute admitted rehabilitation is provided in the purpose built Graythwaite Rehabilitation Centre.

The Intensive Care Units has a role delineation of level 4 and has coronary care beds included.

 

Ryde Hospital is having an incredible $479 million complete hospital redevelopment that will transform the delivery of healthcare for the Ryde local community.

The Ryde Hospital Redevelopment will result in new health facilities and enhanced services including emergency, ICU/critical care, inpatient units, outpatient/ambulatory care services and much more.

Construction commenced in early 2023, and will provide you with a wonderful and exciting opportunity to be part of the Ryde team to change the future health services for the Ryde Community completely.

 

What you'll be doing

The After Hours Nurse Manager is responsible for the operational, clinical and resource management of a defined set of services as delegated from the Director of Nursing and Midwifery. 
This position is accountable for the operational management of the hospital after hours. This will be achieved through the application of strong  leadership, sound analytical and negotiation skills. The After Hours Nurse Manager (AHNM) will have a well-developed ability to work with a multidisciplinary team to achieve efficient and effective patient flow and use of human resources with the organisation. 

 

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Registered Nurse – Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Holds or working towards relevant postgraduate tertiary qualifications in leadership/management or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and work experience.
  2. Leadership and interpersonal skills demonstrating motivation, delegation, negotiation and knowledge with clinical experience of evidence based acute health assessment, treatment and care.
  3. Understanding of and commitment to EPT, bed management/patient flow objectives in an acute health setting, with the ability to resolve complex problems in a timely manner and demonstrate knowledge and skills in the use of information technology systems to support bed management and Patient Flow.
  4. Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage complex, competing and challenging situations, including clinical and corporate risk in a timely manner plus Human Resource management abilities.
  5. High level verbal and written communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to act as a change agent and lead organisational change in patient care and service delivery.
