Selection Criteria 

  1. Sound current knowledge of research and factors impacting on the quality and effectiveness of environmental health policy, including scoping of potential future environmental health issues.
  2. Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience in environmental health, public health, or other relevant science discipline.
  3. Experience in environmental health legislation and compliance activities.
  4. Extensive experience in public and environmental health issues as they relate to environmental health regulation policy development and management. For example: developing the regulatory framework and policies for management of cooling water systems, skin penetration procedures and disposal of bodies.
  5. Demonstrated ability to undertake literature searches and critically appraise scientific evidence.
  6. Demonstrated understanding of the role of government in the management and communication of environmental health regulation.
  7. Demonstrated experience of policy development and project management and the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  8. High-level interpersonal, negotiation and written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

COVID-19 Vaccination Compliancy 
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
