The Outpatients Department at John Hunter Hospital delivers a diverse range of specialist and sub-specialist clinics within a world-class medical environment. We are currently seeking enthusiastic and experienced Casual Registered Nurses to join our dynamic, patient-focused Outpatients team.
 


About The Role: 

As a Casual Registered Nurse within our Outpatients Department, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional patient care across a variety of specialty clinics, including:

  • Urology

  • Ophthalmology

  • ENT

  • Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

  • Dermatology

  • Rheumatology

This is an exciting opportunity to thrive in a fast-paced and rewarding outpatient environment where no two days are the same.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care across multiple outpatient specialties.

  • Collaborate effectively with hospital and community-based providers to ensure coordinated, continuous, and holistic patient care.

  • Support the efficient operation of outpatient clinics through:

    • Proactive clinic preparation and scheduling

    • Accurate clinical documentation and outcome management

    • Timely coordination of patient enquiries, follow-ups, and escalations

    • Effective stock management and resource readiness

Provide clear, empathetic communication and education to patients and their families/carers, empowering informed healthcare decisions.

Working Hours

The Outpatients Department operates:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

  • Some extended shifts between 7:30 am – 6:00 pm
