About the role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of evidence-based Occupational therapy input, working with other allied health and medical professionals to provide care for children attending specialist clinics and blocks of rehabilitation. You would be working in a community-based clinic setting to perform assessments and interventions for children who are receiving rehabilitation care. You would be working predominantly in an outpatient health setting in Newcastle, providing high-quality services to children requiring rehab care in the cerebral palsy and movement disorders clinic and toxin clinic. Working across the other service streams as needed to provide rehabilitation care for children attending intensive rehab blocks is also an aspect of this role.

This position may also involve working with children and young people in their home and school environments. Attendance at outreach clinics (including overnight stays) across the Northern Child Health Network as part of this service may also be a component of this role.

You won’t be working alone. Working within HNEkidsRehab allows opportunity for support as part of the collaborative team around the child and family. Ongoing professional development is encouraged; and support in ongoing education and development of your occupational therapy clinical skills will be provided relevant to your role. There is opportunity for networking across the district and NSW paediatric Rehabilitation Services. As part of this position, participation in supervision is required.

  • Be a collaborative team player, with the ability to work within a dynamic, specialised, multi-disciplinary team.
  • Have relevant expertise and experience in paediatric Occupational therapy, specifically in rehabilitation (Cerebral palsy and movement disorders).
  • Have a desire to continue to improve the service provision of HNEkidsRehab, ensuring evidence-based practice.
  • Motivated and enthusiastic, with an interest in problem solving and improving service delivery.
