About the role:
In this newly created role, the Multicultural Midwife Educator is responsible for leading the district in its education for midwives in Multicultural health. On any given day, you will be developing and facilitating education programs for our midwives district-wide; building and maintaining relationships with our Clinical Midwife Educators to support educational priorities for the culturally diverse, refugee and Deaf patients; and represent our Local Health District in meetings with external stakeholders and NGO’s to maximise learning outcomes for our midwives as well as our women and babies. If you’re ready to become a champion for the education of diverse groups of women and their babies in our district, then we want to hear from you!

You won’t be working alone. You will be working with a small, diverse team of maternity experts who oversee the safety and quality of maternity services across our district. The team itself is very collaborative, regularly coming together for huddle meetings and team planning days occurring multiple times per year. The successful applicant will be supported by the WHAM Network Coordinator and Midwifery Advisor, as well as being given a thorough orientation program. Further support is also available through the other state consultants, as well as from the Multicultural Health team.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Showcase your background in education and delivering trauma informed care.
  • Have the confidence to advocate for the multicultural, diverse groups you will be representing
  • Be curious and open to learning
  • Be a great team player and work across both WHAM and Multicultural teams

Requirements:

  • Current registration as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
