About the role:
Tamworth Hospital is excited to be seeking an experienced nursing leader to join our team at as the Deputy Director of Nursing & Midwifery (DDoNM). This key leadership role provides strategic and operational support to the Director of Nursing & Midwifery, ensuring safe, high-quality care and effective governance across our dynamic rural referral hospital.
In this role, you will lead nursing and midwifery services across acute, subacute, and specialist clinical areas, supporting workforce development, service improvement, and patient-centred care. You will work in close collaboration with executive, clinical and non-clinical leaders to drive performance, safety, and innovation in line with NSW Health and HNELHD priorities.

Where you’ll be working:
Tamworth Hospital is the principal referral hospital for the northern sector of Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD), servicing a population of over 180,000 people. As a major rural referral facility, Tamworth Hospital provides a wide range of specialist services, including emergency, medical, surgical, maternity, critical care, mental health, rehabilitation, and outpatient services.
Located in the vibrant regional centre of Tamworth, the hospital is a teaching facility affiliated with the University of Newcastle, and offers opportunities to work alongside clinicians involved in research, education, and innovation. Tamworth combines the advantages of rural living with access to quality schools, cultural events, sporting facilities, and transport connections.
As our next DDoNM, you will have:
- Proven executive leadership in nursing or midwifery within a complex healthcare setting.
- Strong commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, and service improvement.
- Capacity to develop and lead high-performing teams.
- Advanced interpersonal and negotiation skills to influence, lead change and build partnerships
- Understanding of the challenges and opportunities of regional/rural healthcare.

- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
