Where you'll be working
The position is based within the Cardiology Unit at John Hunter Hospital, a tertiary referral centre providing comprehensive cardiology monitoring and diagnostic testing services across John Hunter Hospital, Belmont Hospital, Maitland Hospital, and other Hunter New England Health facilities.
The Cardiac Physiology team is made up of staff across a range of grades, experience levels, and specialist interests, offering opportunities to gain exposure across all areas of cardiac diagnostics. Technical staff work a fixed roster and participate in a weekend on-call service outside normal hours.

About You
The successful applicant will have the required qualifications, training, and experience to perform cardiac ultrasound diagnostic testing and must hold current ASAR accreditation. Strong technical skills, adaptability, and a commitment to high-quality patient care are essential.
About the role
This role provides cardiac ultrasound diagnostic testing in support of the Cardiology service, delivering services to both adult and paediatric patients across inpatient and outpatient settings.
A typical day or week involves performing high-quality echocardiography studies, supporting broader cardiac diagnostic services, and working closely with medical, nursing, and technical staff to ensure timely and accurate patient assessment.
You will:
Perform cardiac ultrasound scans and provide accurate reports for inpatient and outpatient clients as requested.
Participate in a weekend on-call service.
Maintain professional registration as an accredited cardiac sonographer.
Assist with the provision of other cardiac diagnostic tests in support of the Cardiology Unit as directed.
Clean, maintain, and ensure appropriate functioning of all equipment used for cardiac testing.
Participate in quality improvement activities to enhance all aspects of the Cardiology service.

Requirements
Undergraduate degree in Science or other similar area which includes human anatomy and physiology.
Accredited and registered with Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR)
