About the role:
The AMIHS (Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Health Strategy) Midwife will working partnership with the AMIHS Aboriginal Health Worker to provide a high-quality service that is culturally sensitive, woman centred, based on primary health care principles, and provided in partnership with Aboriginal people. The AMIHS service is provided as part of the broader HealthOne Quirindi primary and community health team. The AMIHS service provides individualised, culturally sensitive antenatal and postnatal care up to 8 weeks post-delivery. The AMIHS service operates under both a clinic and home visiting model, dependent upon the individual family needs.
You won’t be working alone. The AMIHS Midwife works in partnership with the AMIHS Aboriginal Health Worker, with the support of the Hunter New England AMIHS team network. The NSW Health AMIHS network provides specific education and professional development for AMIHS staff. Comprehensive orientation and support will also be provided upon commencement into this role.

As our next AMIHS Midwife, you will:
1️⃣ Deliver culturally safe, compassionate person-centred midwifery care.
2️⃣ Enjoy working with a broader multidisciplinary team to achieve identified goals and outcomes.
3️⃣ Be a motivated and experienced Midwife, with the ability to manage this caseload in close partnership with the AMIHS Aboriginal Health Worker
Requirements:
- Registered Midwife with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA

Additional Information:
1) * Based on a minimum 18-month commitment to the position or the agreed duration of your contract. All payments to part-time and contract employees will be made on a pro-rata basis in accordance with the terms of your contract, including any approved extensions. If your contract ends before the agreed completion date, you may be required to repay a portion of the incentive. Please note: the increased RHWIS allowance is approved until 30th June 2026. Commencement after this date may be subject to change, including the allowance amount for which the candidate may be eligible. 2) An eligibility list will be created for future temporary part-time vacancies.
3) To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable local candidate is identified for the position; in this instance, you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
