About The Role:


As a Sterilisation Technician, you will be responsible for the thorough reprocessing of a wide range of medical and surgical instruments across all specialties including Orthopaedics, Trauma, and Neurosurgery. You will ensure strict compliance with all statutory regulations and departmental protocols. Additionally, your expertise will extend to supporting our external customer service operations, maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Located on Level 1, the Sterilising Services department at John Hunter Hospital The Service Operates 24/7 Monday to Friday and on Weekends and Public Holidays the Department is open 7:00 to 23:00, providing essential reprocessing services to John Hunter, Belmont, and Calvary Mater Hospitals. We support 15 Operating Suites and numerous clinics, wards, and external customers. Excitingly, our department will move to the new Acute Services Building in 2026
 

You will undergo comprehensive training facilitated by our Quality Education Coordinator, with ongoing support provided by Supervisors and Team Leaders
 

About You:

  • Sterilisation Technology Certificate II or III in health service assistance (sterilisation services) or equivalent qualification and relevant experience in sterilisation services department within a healthcare facility
  • Experience in a multi–disciplinary hospital sterilisation services department with experience in using an electronic instrument tracking system
  • Possesses excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, fostering effective collaboration and understanding across multidisciplinary teams.
