Staff Specialist in Paediatric Endocrinology
Trans and Gender Diverse Services, John Hunter Children’s Hospital
Permanent part time (0.2 FTE)
Temporary part time (0.4 FTE until January 2026)

Lead. Support. Empower.

We’re looking for a passionate and forward-thinking Staff Specialist in Paediatric Endocrinology to join a progressive, multidisciplinary team at John Hunter Children’s Hospital. You’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the health and well-being of trans and gender diverse young people, providing compassionate, affirming, and evidence-based care.

This is a rare opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a specialised service within a well-established tertiary paediatric hospital, while enjoying the flexibility of a dual part-time appointment (permanent and temporary roles available).

What you’ll bring:

  • Registration (or eligibility) with AHPRA as a Specialist in Paediatric Endocrinology or on an approved pathway for overseas-trained specialists
  • A commitment to gender-affirming care, with a sound understanding of—or a willingness to learn about—the unique needs of trans and gender diverse children, adolescents, and their families
  • Availability to participate in an on-call roster

Why join us?
At John Hunter Children’s Hospital, we’re more than a hospital — we’re a hub of innovation, advocacy, and holistic paediatric care. As one of only three dedicated children's hospitals in NSW, we care for tens of thousands of young patients each year, combining expert clinical practice with a compassionate community-focused approach.

You’ll also benefit from being part of Hunter New England Local Health District, where we’re committed to excellence, sustainability, and professional development through strong ties with the University of Newcastle and the Hunter Medical Research Institute.

What’s in it for you?

Swap long commutes and sky-high living costs for a vibrant coastal lifestyle in Newcastle, where you’ll enjoy pristine beaches, thriving food and arts scenes, and easy access to the Hunter Valley and Lake Macquarie. Whether you’re after surf, wine, or a family-friendly community, the region offers the perfect work-life blend.

Ready to make a difference?
Become a champion for trans and gender diverse youth and help shape the future of paediatric endocrinology in a dynamic, welcoming environment.
