We are seeking a motivated and experienced Social Worker to join our dynamic Social Work in Medicine Team, part of the John Hunter Hospital (JHH) Social Work Service. This role is primarily based at Maitland Hospital, where you will provide vital support to patients undergoing rehabilitation and those with complex NDIS or Aged Care needs.
There may also be opportunities to rotate across the broader JHH and Belmont Social Work teams, offering diversity and professional growth.

Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a Social Worker who thrives in a hospital environment and is confident working with patients who have complex care needs.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience in acute hospital and/or rehabilitation settings, including strong knowledge of NDIS and Aged Care services
- Proficiency in a range of Social Work interventions, particularly those related to safe discharge planning
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, especially in fast-paced multidisciplinary teams
- Experience providing supervision and support to students and junior staff
Additional Information:
- An eligibility list will be created for future temporary part time vacancies.
- To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia.
