Join our small, dedicated team as a Sexual Assault Counsellor in Taree, on the beautiful Barrington Coast of NSW, where you'll be part of a positive and supportive environment. You'll be working alongside two experienced professionals who are passionate about making a difference, with access to regular supervision and strong professional support to help you thrive in your role.
Our shared office fosters collaboration and connection, while still allowing space for focused, client-centred work. If you're looking for a rewarding role where your skills are valued and your wellbeing is prioritised, we'd love to hear from you.
About the role:
As a Sexual Assault Counsellor, you'll be part of a well-supported team that values collaboration and a thoughtful, planned approach to client care. Regular intake meetings ensure shared understanding and coordinated support for clients, allowing you to work with clarity and purpose.
There is also the opportunity to join the on-call team, offering additional experience and a chance to contribute to crisis support services. This role is ideal for someone who values structured, compassionate work within a team that genuinely supports one another. Professional development in our team is not only supported but encouraged.
About you:
We’re looking for a compassionate and skilled professional with experience in counselling, ideally within the context of working with complex families and individuals impacted by sexual assault. The ability to engage sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal families is highly valued, and cultural competence is essential to providing safe and inclusive support.
You’ll need to be comfortable managing competing priorities, contributing to a team-based approach, and working within a structured framework. While experience in sexual assault counselling is beneficial, comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided to help you grow into the role. If you're adaptable, empathetic, and committed to making a meaningful difference, we encourage you to apply.
Requirements:
- Applicant must be female as per section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act (1977).
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work or Psychology with eligibility for membership to the AASW or registration as a Psychologist with the APHRA, with extensive clinical experience in their profession.
What we can offer you:
