Where you’ll be working:
Based at the Westlakes Community Health Centre in Toronto, NSW, you’ll be part of a small, friendly, nurse-led team of specialists delivering care across the picturesque Lake Macquarie region. The Westlakes Community Nursing and Palliative Care Service covers parts of two Local Health Districts, offering you a diverse caseload and a unique working environment where every day is different. With strong team values and a patient-centred approach, you’ll work alongside dedicated clinicians who take pride in supporting their community and each other.
About the role:
As a casual Registered Nurse, you’ll deliver high-quality care in the community setting, focusing on wound care, continence support, medication management, and palliative care. Your workday will run from 8:00am to 4:30pm, with shifts available Monday to Friday, weekends, and public holidays. This is an autonomous role with strong team backup, ideal for nurses who enjoy flexibility, meaningful patient relationships, and the opportunity to provide holistic care in people’s homes.
You’ll collaborate with other clinicians, external providers, and family members to ensure clients receive the care and dignity they deserve, especially during end-of-life support. The variety of work and changing locations each day make this role both challenging and rewarding.
About you:
You're a confident, compassionate nurse with strong clinical foundations and a flexible, community-minded attitude. You bring:
- Proven experience in wound care, continence management, and palliative care
- The ability to work independently and within a team-based model
- Confidence in clinical decision-making and scope of practice
- Availability to work weekends and public holidays
- A current unrestricted driver’s licence and willingness to travel for work
Requirements:
- Foundational capability in wound, continence, medication and palliative care nursing
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within scope of practice
- Demonstrated experience in community-based palliative care
- Availability to work weekends and public holidays
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
