Where you’ll be working: 
Cessnock, located just a short distance from the renowned Hunter Valley vineyards, serves as the administrative centre of the City of Cessnock Local Government Area. This vibrant town, surrounded by beautiful countryside, offers a range of affordable dining and accommodation options and is home to the Cessnock District Hospital. The hospital is a 64-bed facility that provides emergency, surgical, and general medical care to the region’s growing population. They are currently offering an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and proactive Registered Nurses to join their team, working within Emergency Department and Close Observation unit. 


About the role: 

As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department or Close Observation unit, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure patients receive exceptional support during critical moments. This position requires a candidate with exceptional dedication, enthusiasm, and the ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining a strong focus on patient care. Your excellent interpersonal skills will be key in fostering positive, collaborative relationships and adapting your communication style to suit a wide range of audiences. You will also bring a compassionate approach to interactions with patients, families, and caregivers, offering the emotional support essential in an emergency setting. Strong time management and organisational skills are vital in this role, your commitment to delivering high-quality nursing care will significantly contribute to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the Emergency Department.


About you: 

Our successful candidate will possess:

  • Current certification in Advanced Life Support, demonstrating comprehensive skills in managing both paediatric and adult patients.

  • Triage certification with practical experience in frontline assessment and prioritisation.

  • Proven ability to perform thorough patient assessments, prioritise effectively, and make sound clinical decisions in high-pressure environments.

  • Extensive emergency department experience, essential for confidently navigating critical situations. This background will support rapid assessment, timely intervention, and delivery of high-quality care under urgent conditions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.


Essential Requirements:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
