Where you'll be working
Maitland - a charming region with a rich history, emerging food scene, thriving arts community, boutique accommodation and packed events calendar. You'll find all this just two hours from Sydney or 30 minutes from Newcastle, on the banks of the picturesque Hunter River.

Maitland Hospital is a major Rural Referral Hospital providing services to the expansive Lower Hunter Region. Having opened its doors on a brand new facility in January 2022, the new hospital provides a broad range of services in a comfortable and modern environment.

What you'll be doing
 

You will provide effective medical care in the area of obstetrics and gynaecology, under the supervision of specialist staff, to the patients of Maitland Hospital and its referral hospitals, while undertaking learning and professional development activities aimed at achieving Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG). This position will satisfy the RANZCOG Advanced Training Module criteria for the Generalist Obstetric/Generalist Gynaecology Advanced Training Module. It is anticipated that this position will include surgical operating opportunities at Maitland public hospital, other Lower Hunter hospitals and the private sector.


 
  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Completion of the Integrated Training Program of RANZCOG. Compliance with RANZCOG training requirements.
  3. Extensive clinical experience in obstetrics and gynaecology with well developed procedural skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment together with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  5. Demonstrated supervision of junior medical staff and students and participation in teaching and training activities.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to achieving FRANZCOG with a focus on developing generalist Obstetric and Gynaecology skills.
  7. Demonstrated interest and willingness to be involved in quality and safety initiatives and research.
  8. Willingness to participate in a 24 hour/7 day roster.
