About The Role:

You will provide relief administrative support across various departments within the hospital and off-site locations in Newcastle, including the Pacific Clinic (Newcastle Sexual Health), Wards, Outpatient Services, Endoscopy, and Clinical Service Units.

Depending on the area you are assigned to, your daily responsibilities will involve a range of general administrative and clerical duties within a healthcare environment. Key tasks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Patient Reception & Processing: Greet patients on arrival, complete electronic check-in procedures, update personal and insurance details, and manage check-out tasks such as follow-up appointments and payment processing.
  • Patient & Family Support: Offer compassionate assistance to patients and their families. Address concerns, provide guidance, and help them navigate the healthcare system effectively.
  • Medical Documentation & Typing: Transcribe clinical reports, letters, and notes accurately and confidentially as dictated by medical staff. Ensure timely completion and distribution of documentation.
  • Front Desk & Reception Duties: Maintain a professional and welcoming reception environment. Manage patient flow, update waiting lists, and ensure compliance with privacy and infection control procedures.
  • Administrative Support to Clinical Staff: Assist healthcare professionals with administrative tasks including retrieving patient records, preparing documents, entering data into electronic systems, and supporting clinical workflows.



About You: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritise tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality patient service
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems (desirable)
  • A professional, compassionate, and adaptable approach to patient care
