Where you'll be working:
Armidale Rural Referral Hospital is a modern, 99-bed facility serving the vibrant regional city of Armidale, located halfway between Sydney and Brisbane on the stunning Northern Tablelands. This state-of-the-art hospital supports a wide range of acute and surgical services, and the recently built Operating Theatre complex (opened 2018) boasts cutting-edge technology and an excellent working environment.

About the role:
As a Perioperative Registered Nurse, you’ll rotate through a range of roles including instrument/circulating, anaesthetic, and recovery nursing across our four modern suites: three theatres and an endoscopy room. We average 2–3 operating lists daily, covering orthopaedics, ophthalmology, general surgery, urology, gynaecology, obstetrics, emergencies, and endoscopy. 

Shifts range from 8:00am–7:00pm, with on-call coverage required on evenings and weekends. If you're not yet experienced in one or more clinical areas, we’ll support you with on-the-job training and guidance from our dedicated full-time Clinical Nurse Educator. About you:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in perioperative or critical care nursing
  • Skilled in one or more of the following: instrument/circulating, anaesthetic, or recovery nursing
  • Committed to safe and high-quality care aligned with current standards (ACCORN, GENCA, 4187)
  • Excellent time management, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to work a mix of shifts and participate in the on-call roster
  • Enthusiastic about expanding your skills through education and professional development

Requirements:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
  • Relevant perioperative nursing experience (minimum 2 years)
  • Understanding of infection control, reprocessing standards and perioperative guidelines
  • Ability to meet shift and on-call requirements, including weekends and public holidays
  • Commitment to ongoing education and patient safety
