About the role:

Armidale Hospital is a great place to work as an Occupational Therapist, with this role being a fantastic opportunity to step-up into a leadership position. You would have a real impact, not only on the patients and their families you work with, but also on the wider OT and multidisciplinary team. As a senior Occupational Therapist at Armidale Hospital, you’ll be at the heart of urgent care. You would be making fast, informed decisions in the ED and ward settings, guiding safe discharges, and mentoring the OT team as an expert in all things ED OT. This is your chance to build on your education and leadership skills, where no two days are the same.

Whether you're assessing patients in the ED, coordinating safe discharges, or delivering equipment to support recovery at home, your work will be meaningful and varied. Weekend shifts are part of the position. You will need to be flexible, compassionate, and an excellent communicator to get the most out of this position.

This role would be focused on your professional growth. You’ll be encouraged to pursue training, participate in communities of practice, and expand your professional skills in a team that values your development and contribution.

About the service:

You’ll be joining a team that’s not only highly skilled but genuinely supportive. Sandy (OT Manager) and her OT team have a real focus on collaboration, but you will also work very closely with other multidisciplinary professionals who very much value your input. As a clinical supervisor and leader within the OT team, you’ll also play an important role in shaping the future of the department, helping the wider team by contributing to education, leadership, and innovation.

Armidale is a vibrant regional city in the picturesque New England region of our district. Known for its welcoming community and rich cultural heritage, Armidale offers a great lifestyle and community, where you’ll be made to feel welcome. Locals enjoy a strong sense of connection, with local events being offered and lots of beautiful spots to explore with friends.

We are looking for someone with previous experience in an Emergency Department. If you do not have this experience, but an interest in this clinical area please reach out. Sandy would love to have a chat with you about the training and upskilling that could be supported.
