Location: Armidale Community Health Service
Employment Type: Permanent Full Time
Position Classification: Nurse Manager Grade 2
Hours Per Week: 38
Requisition ID: REQ573383
Applications Close: Tuesday 10th of June 2025
Interviews Scheduled for Thursday 12th of June 2025
Where you'll be working:
This role is based at the Armidale Community Health Building, home to diverse teams including Child and Family Health, Home Nursing, Palliative Care, Audiometry, Women’s Health, Continence, Dementia and Cognition Services, Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab, Wound Care, WHIN, and Connecting Care Nurses. Some teams operate out of Uralla and routinely travel across vast rural catchments. The service is increasingly embracing virtual care to ensure equitable access for all communities.
About the role:
You will support these teams by ensuring clinical caseloads remain manageable and troubleshooting complex patient cases as they arise. Operational duties include overseeing recruitment, rostering, conducting audits, and participating in monthly accountability and financial meetings. A typical week balances clinical support with strategic oversight—working closely with team leads to resolve issues, optimize service delivery, and drive continuous improvement across all community health streams.
About you:
You thrive under pressure and have a strong focus on staff development and wellbeing. Excellent communication skills are essential—you’ll need to build rapport, offer mentorship, and liaise effectively with each service stream. You’re adaptable, able to juggle multiple priorities, and committed to ensuring every team member can grow in their role. Even if you’re new to specific health systems (finance, rostering, incident management), you’re eager to learn and have the resilience to master them quickly.
Requirements:
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet varied operational demands
- Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a health or community services setting
- Ability to learn and navigate health systems (finance, rostering, incident management) with support
- Commitment to cultural respect and partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Willingness to travel occasionally to Uralla or other outreach sites as required
What we can offer you:
At Hunter New England Health, enjoy a career where you're challenged by interesting work and surrounded by spectacular locations. Join the team enriching health in millions of ways every day:
- Access to The Welcome Experience - settle into your new community with all the support you need to embrace rural NSW.
- Monthly Allocated Days Off (for full-time employees)
