Where you’ll be working:
Set in the beautiful New England region of NSW, Armidale Hospital is a major rural referral hospital offering a comprehensive range of health services including emergency, surgical, maternity, medical, and allied health. You’ll be working within a dynamic and professional team committed to continuous learning and high-quality patient care.

The facility is well-supported by a close-knit team of educators, clinical leaders, and nursing professionals who thrive on collaboration and innovation. The culture here is inclusive, supportive, and driven by a shared goal of clinical excellence and patient-centred care. As an after-hours Clinical Nurse Educator, you’ll become an integral part of this team, making a difference when it matters most.

About the role:
As the After-Hours Clinical Nurse Educator (AHCNE), you’ll take the lead in supporting nursing staff across the facility outside regular business hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends. A typical shift will see you mentoring junior and senior nurses alike, delivering targeted education and skills training, and acting as a key point of support for clinical best practice after hours.

You’ll collaborate closely with Nurse Managers, Clinical Nurse Consultants, and other educators to develop and deliver high-impact education programs that drive safe, evidence-based care. The role also includes individualised coaching, involvement in quality improvement projects, and modelling behaviours in alignment with the HNE Health Excellence Framework.

This position is ideal for a passionate Clinical Nurse Educator who wants to contribute meaningfully to both staff development and patient outcomes in the after-hours setting.

About you:
You're a skilled and passionate clinical educator who leads by example. You’ll bring:

  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • A collaborative approach to education and change
  • Experience in delivering individualised and group teaching programs
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement
  • The ability to model professional behaviour aligned with our Excellence Framework

What’s essential is your ability to support staff of all skill levels, your communication and interpersonal skills, and your drive to create a culture of learning and professional growth. While some clinical education strategies can be developed on the job, your ability to guide, inspire, and build clinical confidence is non-negotiable.

What we can offer you:
At Hunter New England Health, enjoy a career where you're challenged by interesting work and surrounded by spectacular locations. Join the team enriching health in millions of ways every day:

  • Access to The Welcome Experience - settle into your new community with all the support you need to embrace rural NSW.

  • Fitness Passport for health and well-being - discounted gym options for you and your family
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for staff and family members
  • Opportunity to work and collaborate with a range of non-clinical and clinical professionals

Support and development:
You’ll be supported by the Hospital Nurse Educator, the After-Hours Nurse Manager, and the Director of Nursing. You’ll receive a structured orientation and have opportunities for ongoing training through regular Clinical Nurse Educator meetings and professional development initiatives. You’ll also work closely with a network of educators and clinical experts to continuously refine your knowledge and skillset.
