Skills and Knowledge

1. Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a category consistent with the role and responsibilities of a Staff Specialist. Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or other Specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award or other specialist recognition as provided for under the Health Insurance Act 1973.
2. Demonstrated technical and professional competence in the specialty, including appropriate and recent hospital experience within the specialty with a demonstrated commitment to continuing medical education relevant to rural specialist practice.
3. Demonstrated participation in and commitment to quality improvement and accreditation activities relevant to the specialty.
4. Demonstrated commitment to and participation in teaching of other health professionals, including staff and doctors in training with sound theoretical knowledge, practical skills and ethical behaviour.
5. Personal commitment to high standards of clinical care within the public hospital system in general and to the principles and practice of contemporaneous Specialist Psychiatry Care.
6. Well-developed skills in communication, negotiation and conciliation and a mature approach to interpersonal relationships including the ability to direct and supervise junior medical staff.
7. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team. Demonstrate ethical, collaborative and safe practice and encourage these attributes in colleagues.
8. Efficient organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing clinical and administrative demands
