What you'll be doingThe primary purpose of the role is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Sexual Assault Medicine and Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) and provide specialised clinical support to assist in their prevention and response to violence, abuse and neglect, as well as to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Sexual Assault Medical Service and Hospital as required. The Clinical Lead will maintain and extend the department’s provision of high-quality medical and forensic care to recent victims of sexual violence (aged 14 years and over).

Selection Criteria
- Current medical practitioner, registered, or eligible for registration, with: Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and relevant specialist qualifications in Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynaecology, General Practice.
- Fellow of the Faculty of Clinical Forensic Medicine of the RCPA/Fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine of the (RACP)/ Royal Australasian College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award with relevant experience and recognised qualifications in Sexual Assault Medicine.
- Qualifications and/or professional experience in understanding of the nature and impacts of DFV and complex trauma and a requirement to undertake ECAV Course MF1425 at a minimum. If no qualification is recognised under the above but has obtained an appropriate higher qualification in his/her specialty acceptable to the Employer after consideration by the Medical and Dental Advisory Committee of the Employer.
- Demonstrated knowledge of integrated sexual assault service delivery and management of adult sexual assault, including responses to crisis presentations, medical follow-up and adult wellbeing consultations.
- Proven ability to provide leadership, advanced negotiation skills and the ability to develop and maintain a cohesive patient centred service.
- Preparedness to support and participate in a on-call service which responds to interagency partners (NSW Police), including on-call rosters already existing or established, if requested and credentialed, and provision of ongoing training and support to examiners.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing and supervising medico-legal work, including review of Expert Witness Certificates, providing expert witness evidence and testimony in court, preparing examiners to provide evidence and testimony and debriefing examiners.
