This position qualifies for an annual Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (conditions apply and may be pro-rata’d to your contracted or ordinary working hours, these payments are paid on a fortnightly basis) under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.

This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

What you'll be doing
  • Manage operational nursing and ancillary service delivery, culture and service improvements to achieve quality patient outcomes, sustainable access and collaboration in health care.
  • Optimise business outcomes, manage and reform change, and optimise rostering capability.
  • Empower our staff to provide high quality healthcare through support, guidance and direction.
  • Act as a senior clinician and role model to ensure care is delivered within professional boundaries, legal and ethical parameters, National Patient Safety and Quality Standards and NSW Health policies and procedures.

About the Menindee Health Service

Menindee is beautiful little community on the banks of the Darling River and is surrounded by the spectacular Menindee Lakes. The Menindee Health Service is a busy Primary Health Clinic with an Emergency Department as well. We provide chronic disease, community and primary health care services to the community, as well as facilitating a range of visiting services. Our clinic is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. After hours and on weekends an RN is on call for Ambulance and emergencies with a second Ambulance trained staff member. Ambulance training will be provided.

How to apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible:

  • Current Nursing registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Appropriate qualifications in management, with five years full time equivalent post qualification experience in the relevant field.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including conflict resolution, mediation and negotiation, and the ability to motivate, inspire and manage staff to achieve service and professional goals through recognised change management processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of Primary Health Care and commitment to working in a primary health care model of service delivery while also delivering an emergency care services.
  • Proven ability to work in a way that engenders mutual respect in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the role, function & funding of public hospital within the Australian and NSW Health Systems and broad clinical experience and operational management at senior level within a healthcare environment.
  • Current drivers license and ability and willingness to travel in rural and remote areas, including overnight stays.
