About the Role
At Far West LHD, our success is driven by the collective achievements of our people. As an experienced Registered Emergency Nurse, our dynamic team will support your growth, while you share your expertise to mentor others.
The Broken Hill Base Hospital Emergency Department is a level 3 emergency department that services Broken Hill and the Far West. The ED currently has 7 beds including 2 resusitation beds and 5 acute care beds, 1 safe assessment room. Presentations can exceed 60 patients a day with varying acuity and conditions.
We accept patients from outer lying areas for higher level investigations, interventions and admission. Patients are transported to Broken Hill by the Royal Flying Doctors Service base in Broken Hill or the NSW Ambulance Service.
Our ED is undergoing an internal refurbishment and reconfiguration to extend our ambulance by, making it a bigger and more efficient space and an increase from 7 beds to 13.
The Must Haves
- 4 years experience as a Registered Nurse working in Emergency and Triage competent
- Basic and Advanced Life Support
- Trauma Care
- ECG, Resuscitation, Non Invasive Cannulation, Venepuncture
- Focus on providing excellent patient care including working with aged care patients
- Is an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or has a valid Visa with full working rights
The Details
- Casual Nurse Contracts
- Registered Nurse award rates based on evidence of years of service
- Daily Meal Allowance (payable by submitting receipts) up to $120.85 per day
- Travel and Accommodation included
- RHWIS paid as an hourly rate fortnightly @ $5.04 per hour

How To Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible:
- Current nursing/midwifery registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Current postgraduate or minimum Graduate Certificate qualification in Intensive Care, Coronary Care, or Critical Care.
- Demonstrated application of professional and ethical boundaries to the delivery of patient care in the context of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated application of evidence based practice and critical thinking to advocate for and implement individualised person centred care patient care.
- Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise.
- Demonstrated commitment to work and partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait, Islander patients and families and employees to enhance health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
- Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills, and willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team.
