About the Opportunity
As a Trainee Engineer (Storage & Backup) within Enterprise Services, you will develop foundational skills in enterprise storage, backup and recovery technologies that underpin critical clinical and corporate systems across NSW Health. This is an excellent entry point for graduates or early‑career technologists looking to build a long‑term career in enterprise infrastructure.
In this role, you will:
- Assist with the support and maintenance of enterprise storage and backup platforms in a large, complex environment
- Learn to monitor system performance, capacity and availability to ensure highly reliable services
- Support incident, problem and change activities under guidance from senior engineers
- Contribute to documentation, standard operating procedures and service improvement initiatives
- Build hands‑on experience working with modern infrastructure technologies in a healthcare setting
Develop DevOps skills Develop and maintain operational automation using tools such as DevOps, Artificial Intelligence and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a qualification in IT, engineering, computer science or a related discipline (or is nearing completion)
- Demonstrates strong interest in infrastructure, storage and backup enterprise systems
- Shows willingness to learn, follow processes and work as part of a collaborative team
- Has good communication skills and the ability to manage tasks in a structured environment
- Understands the importance of reliability and security in healthcare technology
- Willing to participate in an on-call roster and occasionally work after-hours under the guidance of a senior engineer.
