We are seeking a motivated and skilled Engineer – Hybrid Compute to support the design, deployment, and ongoing operations of hybrid IT infrastructure that seamlessly integrates on-premises systems with public cloud environments.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with senior engineers, cloud architects, and IT operations teams to ensure high performance, security, and operational efficiency across diverse platforms. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an infrastructure or cloud engineer with a strong technical foundation in virtualisation, cloud services, and automation to grow within a forward-thinking and innovative organisation.
In this role, you will:
- Assist in implementing and maintaining hybrid infrastructure across on-premises and public cloud platforms (Azure and AWS).
- Manage and support Windows Server and Unix/Linux systems, ensuring stability, performance, and security.
- Administer virtualisation platforms (VMware, Hyper-V), including compute, storage, and networking.
Drive automation using Terraform/Ansible and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash) to improve reliability and repeatability.
- Manage server patching processes via SCCM and support enterprise print services.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise systems and services, collaborating with security teams, maintaining documentation, and providing Tier 2/3 on-call support.
This role is internally referred to as Engineer - DevOps
About You
We are looking for:
- Demonstrated working knowledge of systems, infrastructure, or cloud engineering roles.
- Operating systems: strong hands-on Windows Server administration and solid capability across Unix/Linux environments.
- Virtualisation and cloud: experience with VMware technologies including Hyper-V, vSphere, ESXi, vCenter plus exposure to Azure and AWS (CI/CD and Automation).
- Automation and scripting: proficiency with Terraform (and ideally Ansible) and scripting in PowerShell, Python, and/or Bash.
- Core infrastructure fundamentals: networking fundamentals, SCCM patch management, endpoint security (Microsoft Defender), and familiarity with enterprise print services.
- Ways of working: familiarity with DevOps/Agile practices and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Soft skills: strong analytical and problem-solving ability, excellent written and verbal communication, a collaborative mindset, and a proactive willingness to learn and adapt.
