Are you a proven WHS professional ready to set new standards for safety and wellbeing? Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) is seeking an experienced Project Manager, Health & Safety Systems & Compliance Manager to lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of our WHS management systems.

Why this role?

  • Strategic impact: You will report directly to the Associate Director of Health, Safety & Wellbeing to review and enhance health, safety and wellbeing frameworks across our diverse local health district. Your leadership will directly influence organisational safety culture and health outcomes for staff and patients.
  • Cross-functional leadership: Collaborate with executive directors, senior managers and teams across CCLHD to drive district wide safety strategies. Your voice will shape policy, practice and future initiatives in line with the WHS Act 2011, ISO 45001 and industry best practice.
  • Best-practice integration: Benchmark against other health agencies and continuously align CCLHD’s WHS systems with international standards. You will consult with SafeWork NSW, professional bodies and external agencies to ensure our safety systems are cutting edge and compliant.
  • Empower leadership: Inspire and mentor leaders and staff to promote a proactive health, safety and wellbeing culture. You will design and deliver programs that build safety leadership and enhance risk management capacity across the organisation.

About the Role:

  • Lead the development, implementation and improvement of CCLHD’s integrated Health, Safety & Wellbeing Management Systems.
  • Ensure alignment with legislative requirements including the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, ISO 45001 and relevant international standards.
  • Embed compliance into operational frameworks and foster continuous improvement.
  • Design and deliver both operational and preventive safety strategies, incorporating innovative controls and emerging trends.
  • Enhance risk assessment methodologies and maintain an up to date risk register.
  • Analyse WHS data and trends to identify emerging risks and recommend strategic improvements.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, external agencies, unions and regulatory bodies to champion safety initiatives and best practice.

About You:

  • Demonstrated success leading WHS management systems and driving continuous improvement within a complex environment.
  • Proven ability to embed safety and compliance into operational frameworks and deliver district wide safety strategies.
  • Strong risk management capabilities, with experience designing and implementing WHS policies and procedures to address both operational and preventive risks.
  • The ability to analyse WHS data and trends, identify emerging risks and develop strategic improvements.
  • A record of engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and industry bodies, to ensure best practice alignment.
  • A passion for building safety leadership and fostering a proactive safety culture throughout the organisation.
