About the Role
The Domestic and Family Violence Social Worker Level 3 plays a key role in offering expert support to patients experiencing domestic and family violence. Referrals are typically received from Emergency Departments or through routine domestic violence screenings.
The role focuses on providing short-term counselling and support to:
- Enhance safety and provide vital support for victims at risk.
- Reduce social isolation and remove barriers that prevent victims from accessing essential services such as healthcare, housing, legal assistance, financial support, counselling, therapeutic programs, and parenting services.
- Deliver confidential, professional, and relevant services to victims and their families, using a brief intervention model that may include risk assessments, safety planning, psycho-education, counselling, and referrals to other services.
- Promote a collaborative and integrated approach to addressing domestic and family violence.
This position is based at the Gateway Centre, 4 Watt St, Gosford, working Monday to Thursday, 8.30am - 5.00pm. The role has an assertive outreach service extending to hospitals, health facilities, and community locations across the Central Coast. The Social Worker will also provide expert consultation to support other health professionals in assessing risk, creating safety plans, and making appropriate referrals when needed.
In addition, the Social Worker will work closely with interdisciplinary teams and senior managers within the Violence, Abuse, and Neglect services to ensure the continuous development and delivery of effective social work services. Active participation in service development, evaluation, and the training of staff and students is also expected.

About You
- You have AASW accredited Social Worker (overseas qualifications must provide the AASW Overseas Assessment number) with a strong understanding of the AASW Practice Standards, and a commitment to ongoing professional development and skill enhancement
- You have proven expertise in Domestic Violence response within a healthcare setting, including crisis and safety assessment, short-term counselling, support, and effective referral pathways
- You possess in-depth knowledge of the impact of trauma related to interpersonal violence, along with current evidence-based recovery and treatment interventions.
