Are you looking for a Training Stage 1 position to develop your management of acutely unwell patients whilst receiving tailored support to complete ACEM’s Primary Examinations?

A Training Stage 1 position at Tamworth offers:

The role is suitable for Training Stage 1 Trainees enrolled in ACEM’s FACEM Training Program. Once you become an Advanced Trainee/Stage 2 Trainee, you will have early access to six-month Critical Care Terms in ANZCA accredited anaesthetics term and CICM accredited ICU term.

 

Where you'll be working

Tamworth is a city of 60,000 with a great selection of schools and cafes. We are part of the Hunter New England Local Health District which stretches from the NSW coast to the Queensland border and along with the rest of HNELHD and Port Macquarie are Network 4 in HETI’s Emergency Medicine Training Network.

Come and have a true rural experience without giving up access to shopping, dining, and a great night out. There is an abundance of local sporting teams and clubs as well as numerous other social activities to keep you busy.

We are the regional referral centre providing trauma and critical care services to over 15 rural hospitals. The ED sees 45,000 presentations annually across all specialties and age groups. There are daily opportunities for procedural skills improvement in a supported environment with 12 full-time equivalent FACEM staff with FACEM staffing on-site from 0700 – 2400 seven days/week. The Westpac Helicopter Retrieval Service has a base in Tamworth and medical staffing consists mainly of local ED senior staff. There is a 6-month ACEM accredited retrieval medicine term available for suitably experienced registrars.

What you'll be doing

The primary purpose of the Training Stage 1 Trainee in the Emergency Department is to provide high quality clinical care, under appropriate supervision, to patients requiring emergency medical services in a complex clinical environment. This position will provide experience in a critical care environment and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the incumbent.

Contracts of up to three years duration are offered.
 

Qualifications - 

  1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team.
  4. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and others members of the health care team.
  5. Demonstrated good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  7. Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
