Where you'll be working
John Hunter Children's Hospital (JHCH) is a specialised tertiary referral paediatric hospital in Newcastle, providing
complex medical, surgical, major trauma and neonatal care services for Northern NSW. The Children's Hospital in
Newcastle, one of three children's hospitals in NSW, will over the course of a year see almost 25,000 children and young
people present to the emergency department, have 9,000 admitted to hospital and perform over 100,000 occasions of
service through outpatient clinics. Other regional hospitals part of the HNEkidshealth Network are Belmont, Cessnock,
Maitland, Singleton, Armidale, Tamworth and Manning Hospital.

What you'll be doing
organisational support in all matters relating to Junior Medical Staff representation, rostering, orientation, recruitment, term
allocations, working conditions and wellbeing of staff.
The role is designed to encourage professional development as a consultant participating in both inpatient, outpatient and
on-call clinical responsibilities. This position is fulltime combined role Paediatric Specialty Provisional Fellow (0.5fte) and
the Chief Resident Medical Officer (CRMO) in Medical Administrative role (0.5fte).
For the Paediatric Specialty Provisional Fellow (0.5fte) role:
The candidate will be required to negotiate with the specialty department located within Children Young People and
Families and submit a support letter. The support letter is required to include a training plan, schedule of clinics, on-call,
supervision arrangements and meetings. The support letter is required to be submitted with your application
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Registered with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, as an Advanced Trainee or equivalent.
- Knowledge of the Northern Paediatric Physician Training Network and NSW Paediatric Training pathways. Support letter to be attached.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and work with teams to support and optimise their capacity to deliver services.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and proven teaching skills.
- Demonstrated confidence and ability to function independently as first on-call.
- Awareness and currency of General Paediatrics practices in NSW Health.
- Ability to interpret and implement the NSW Public (Medical Officers) Award
