- The $1 billion Westmead Precinct is transforming into one of Australia's largest health and research hubs.
- Westmead is a major tertiary referral hospital, offering state-wide specialty services.
- The HR team comprises 1 Director, 3 Senior HRBPs, 2 HRBPs, and 1 HR Officer.
- The Westmead Precinct is well-connected, with a new tram stop located directly outside the main entrance and a train station just a 5-minute walk away, offering excellent public transport access.
What you'll be doing
The Senior HR Business Partner (HRBP) plays a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of the hospital's HR practices while ensuring the smooth operation of workforce management in a dynamic healthcare setting. As a trusted advisor and leader, you’ll partner with key stakeholders to support a positive, high-performing environment. Key responsibilities also include:
- Acting as a key advisor to hospital leadership and department heads on workforce planning and change management.
- Aligning HR strategies with hospital, LHD, and health-level goals.
- Manage complex employee and industrial relations matters, including performance management, grievance resolution, and engagement with unions and legal teams.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, public sector awards, and policies.
Coach managers on leadership, team development, and people management, while fostering a positive workplace culture and supporting staff wellbeing and engagement. - Supporting organisational change projects and HR initiatives.
- Collaborating with Heads of Department, Nursing Unit Managers, Service Managers, and Internal ELT to drive success.

Selection Criteria:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in human resources management or business, or equivalent extensive experience in human resources management in a large diverse service industry.
- Demonstrated experience in providing generalist human resources support to a large portfolio, including recruitment, performance management, job evaluation, change management, industrial relations and award interpretation.
- Sound knowledge of the legislative and regulative requirements relating to human resources management and industrial/employee relations, and the ability to provide practical advice on Human Resources matters and conduct more complex workplace investigations demonstrating adherence to legislation and policies throughout the investigation processes.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to consult effectively with key stakeholders including management, staff, industrial organisations, other industry bodies and external agencies in addition to effective dispute management and alternate dispute resolution skills.
- Highly developed and effective oral and written communication combined with the proven ability to prepare complex briefs, reports and submissions.
- Well developed analytical and problem solving skills that enable reporting on complex HR issues, producing high quality business reports, discussion papers and proposals that offer solutions for a diverse range of HR issues.
- Ability to work independently with limited direction as to work priorities with demonstrated experience managing and meeting deadlines whilst maintaining meticulous attention to detail and meet predetermined targets and deadlines, whilst being flexible and able to adapt work practices to suit circumstances.
- High level of computer literacy including HRIS and Microsoft packages with the ability to generate and develop workforce reports using workforce metrics.
