Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within six (6) months may be considered. If successful, the applicant may not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.
Appointees will be required to provide diagnostic radiology duties at Westmead and Auburn Hospitals, the role also participates in the after-hours Radiology rosters.
The role includes undergraduate and post graduate teaching, research and supervision. Participation in teaching and training for all levels of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education is expected, as required by the Head of Department, as well as contribution to the multi-disciplinary professional development of other clinical staff within the department.
Supervision of JMO's is conducted according to AHPRA, WSLHD, Ministry of Health, and specialist medical College guidelines, and includes supervision of JMO's clinical shifts, as well as individual JMO mentoring responsibilities and completion of supervision reports as required for AHPRA, WSLHD, and Colleges.
Other duties include active participation in administrative activities, as required by the Head of Department.
Senior Medical and Dental staff at WSLHD take a collective responsibility for the provision of excellence in patient care, teaching and training of health professionals and trainees, and conducting research reflecting the highest standard of professional care and conduct.
Senior medical and dental staff are required to commit to create a workplace culture that supports positive and respectful behaviours, high performance, and accountability. The Senior Medical Staff Charter outlines behaviours expected with interactions with patients, colleagues, and the Western Sydney Local Health District.
Appointees may be required to participate in other on call rosters at nominated facilities within Western Sydney Local Health District as determined by clinical operations.
Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Western Sydney Local Health
Selection Criteria
§ Possess registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) or equivalent as provided for Visiting Medical Officer in the Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) and for Staff Specialist in the Staff Specialists (State) Award
§ Sound clinical knowledge in Diagnostic Radiology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
§ Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:
o High level interpersonal and communication skills.
o Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
o Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice.
o Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision.
§ Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department.
§ Highly regarded professional relationships and recognised ability to work co-operatively and effectively within a complex multidisciplinary team, using high level interpersonal and communication skills
§ Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge and broad practical experience in all aspects of Diagnostic Radiology
