Selection Criteria
1. Sound clinical knowledge, experience and skills in neonatology including acute and chronic management of premature and term neonates and newborn resuscitation, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
2. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner with leadership skills including:
· High level interpersonal and communication skills and ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team.
· Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities, patient safety and risk management and evidence-based best practice, policy and protocol development relevant to neonatology.
· Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision, simulation-based teaching.
· Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practice.
· Experience with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department.
3. Demonstrated commitment to delivering high quality, family centred care within a non-tertiary newborn care service, including a clear understanding of the unique clinical, developmental and emotional needs of newborns and their families in this setting.
4. Experience in or current professional development in the following desirable:
· Neonates in outpatient settings – for example, long term Neuro-developmental follow up, Feeding Clinic and/or managing problems of neonates with maternal substance use.
· Clinician performed ultrasound.
· Antenatal counselling.
