Based at Westmead Hospital, one of NSW’s largest tertiary referral centres, you will join a high-performing multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving outcomes for people diagnosed with breast cancer. Working in alignment with the McGrath Foundation Model of Care, this role offers the opportunity to influence clinical excellence across inpatient and outpatient settings. As a Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2, you will provide expert clinical leadership in breast cancer care while driving service development, research and education. You will influence patient outcomes and support clinicians across the cancer care continuum. Your key responsibilities will be to:
Deliver specialist breast cancer consultancy, supportive care, education and coordinated care aligned to evidence-based guidelines
Lead a change management project across multidisciplinary teams and outpatient clinics
Monitor, analyse and improve patient outcomes through quality improvement and best practice protocols
Initiate, participate in and disseminate breast cancer research and education programs
Contribute to strategic service planning, clinical pathway development and policy review
You will thrive in a fast-paced, complex healthcare environment, balancing competing priorities while maintaining contemporary, evidence-based practice.
About You
You are a highly experienced Registered Nurse with:
Minimum 5 years post-registration experience, including 3 years in oncology, palliative care or cancer nursing
Postgraduate qualifications in breast or cancer nursing (or willingness to complete)
Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
Demonstrated expertise in breast cancer assessment, management and multidisciplinary care planning
Proven clinical leadership, research, education and service development capability
Strong analytical, communication and organisational skills
Valid NSW Driver’s Licence

Essential Requirements:
Qualifications: Holds approved postgraduate qualifications relevant to the specialty of Breast Cancer Care or qualifications deemed appropriate by WSLHD.
Registration: Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
Selection Criteria:
Minimum of 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience as a registered nurse with at least 3 years recent full time equivalent experience in Oncology, Palliative Care or Cancer Stream specific Nursing.
Relevant post graduate qualifications in breast care nursing or cancer nursing (minimum first unit of the postgraduate certificate, with willingness if deemed necessary to complete the postgraduate certificate in breast care nursing). If no formal education in breast care nursing, then an active understanding that they will be encouraged and supported by the McGrath Foundation and their LHD to obtain post- graduate qualifications in breast care studies. This will require the BCN to commence in the role within the McGrath Foundation Associate Pathway.
Demonstrated expertise in assessment, diagnosis/ formulation/ management of patients with breast cancer. Proven clinical leadership capabilities with the ability to provide consultancy advice, education and support to individuals, their families, nursing staff and other health professionals.
The McGrath Cancer Care Nurse will actively participate in the multidisciplinary team and will be involved in treatment planning.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a multidisciplinary team with high level time management, problem solving, analytical and organisational skills. McGrath Cancer Care Nurse will ensure specific data required by the Foundation is added to the relevant McGrath Foundation controlled database on a regular and timely basis.
Demonstrated competency in written and verbal communication, report writing and research skills.
Valid NSW Driver's License.
