Based at Westmead Hospital, you will be part of a dedicated, collaborative Medical Physics Service supporting BreastScreen NSW and the hospitals of Western Sydney Local Health District. What you'll be doing
This temporary position assists in the provision of radiology medical physics services to BreastScreen NSW. The successful applicant will be required to travel to regional and metropolitan BreastScreen sites across NSW. They will also assist in providing medical physics services to the four hospitals that make up Western Sydney Local Health District. In this role you will deliver high-quality radiology medical physics services to the Cancer Institute NSW, BreastScreen NSW and WSLHD. You will provide expert advice, ensure compliance, and support the optimisation of imaging systems across multiple sites. Key responsibilities will be to:
Conduct imaging equipment commissioning and quality assurance testing
Provide radiation dosimetry, shielding design and performance assessments
Oversee radiographer quality control and deliver specialist guidance
Train and support medical physics registrars and health professionals
Contribute to clinical research and uphold NSW Health standards’

Essential Criteria:
Qualification: Undergraduate degree in science with a major in Physics
Registration: ACPSEM Registration or Certification in Radiology Medical Physics within 6 months of commencement NSW EPA CRE Registration within 6 months of commencement
License: Appropriate EPA Radiation User License within 6 months of commencement
Selection Criteria:
Experience in diagnostic radiology physics including equipment testing, radiology radiation dosimetry, radiation shielding and radiation safety.
Significant experience in mammography equipment testing.
Good knowledge of computers and software.
Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to produce work to a high professional standard.
Demonstrated, well-developed analytical and organisational skills.
Highly developed verbal, written and electronic communication skills.
Be willing to work irregular hours (early or late) at times and possess an unrestricted drivers licence valid in NSW.
