About the opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for General Surgeons to join our team at Dubbo Health Service.
Dubbo Hospital was recently accredited as a Regional Trauma Service. This role is part of the local back-up team to the on-call Surgeon in provision of the Trauma Service, hence requires the Surgeon to reside within 20 minutes of the hospital.
The surgical services team currently comprises of a combination of Staff Specialists and Visiting Medical Officers.
Dubbo Health Service is a major rural referral facility in Dubbo, NSW situated on the edge of the Western plains of outback Australia. It is a rapidly growing service providing critical care, specialist medical inpatient and outpatient services, surgery, mental health and many specialised allied health and medical outreach services.

This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.
Packages may consist of relocation benefits, a fortnightly Rural Retention Allowance, contributions to professional development and utility reimbursements, in addition to accommodation assistance.
To recognise ongoing service in this role, once the successful candidate has served a qualifying period, they will become entitled to a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued at $5,000 (as taxable income).

1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
3. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
4. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
5. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
6. Fellowship of the applicable College.
7. Commitment to developing relationships within Dubbo Community.
