About the opportunity


WNSWLHD is seeking a dynamic highly motivated and experienced Medical Clinical Trialist to join the Western Cluster Clinical Trial Support Unit to mentor and build capabilities of medical workforce to conduct clinical trials.

The Clinical Trials Support Unit is a new unit with a mission to support the development of a clinical trial-capable workforce through mentoring, training and education. Leveraging partnerships with key stakeholders (metro and regional) to efficiently and effectively operationalise the CTSU, allowing for a rapid increase in clinical trial activity.

 

The Senior Staff Specialist will be an experienced clinical trialist doctor, whose primary responsibility will be to mentor and build the capabilities of interested doctors to become Principal Investigators, while also actively supporting the identification, feasibility, start up and coordination of new clinical trial opportunities.

 

Successful candidates may be able to seek an Academic/Teaching/Research role with one of our three partner Universities in the District being University of Sydney for Dubbo Health Service, Charles Sturt University for Orange Health Service and Western Sydney University for Bathurst Health Service. 1.     Registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Medical Practitioner.

2.     Clinical Research Expertise - Strong understanding of the conduct of clinical trials, including protocol feasibility assessment, trial start-up processes, ethics and governance requirements, safety reporting, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

3.     Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team to plan, coordinate and implement clinical trials.

4.     Evidence of being a skilled communicator, including both oral and written skills, communicating with a range of stakeholders including clinicians, clinical trial workforce, external sponsors, patients, and the public.

5.     Demonstrated risk management approach to planning and coordination of clinical trials and solutions focused to ensure successful conduct of clinical trials.

6.     Demonstrated clinical leadership including ability to be flexible and cope with a changing health system, past leadership and management experience and previous safety and quality improvement activities.

7.     Evidence of mentoring and supporting clinicians acquire and develop new clinical knowledge including clinical trial training.
