About the role:

  • The successful applicant will have knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical practice in Medical Oncology commensurate to experience which is appropriate to the requirements of the position.
  • Clinical Duties include inpatient, outpatient and on-call duties.
  • The applicant is expected to develop a substantial program of translational research that engages, leverages and builds upon the existing cancer research within The Kinghorn Cancer Centre.

     

The applicant will be expected to contribute to:

  • Registrar supervision, training and teaching
  • Provision of clinical services to patients designated as under your direct care, to outpatients and to patients you are asked to consult in Medical Oncology;
  • Development of a substantiate program of basic or translational research  that engages, leverages and builds upon the existing research within The Kinghorn Cancer Centre;
  • Participation in Registrar and trainee supervision, training and teaching;
  • Participation in, and compliance with, Terms of Reference of Multidisciplinary Team Meetings;
  • Promotion of good patient care and the good reputation of the department and hospital

    Selection Criteria:

  • Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia; Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent;
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical practice in medical oncology commensurate to experience which is appropriate to the requirements of the position with particular expertise and interest in cancer subspecialties to be determined
  • Experience in and evidence of conducting high quality research (basic, translational and/or clinical trials) with a demonstrated ongoing contribution to the development, dissemination, and translation of new knowledge and practices commensurate with work in an academic teaching hospital environment;
  • Leadership skills that build teams, embrace change, earn professional respect, and foster loyalty;
  • Ability to provide sensitive, well-communicated and compassionate medical care as evidenced by recent experience in working congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team, and as a provider of clinical services that engender high levels of positive patient feedback;
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching at specialty registrar, junior medical officer and undergraduate levels;
  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries.
