Senior Sonographer
Forbes Health Service

About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Sonographer to lead the clinical and administrative operations of our ultrasound service within the Medical Imaging department. In this role, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred ultrasound examinations in line with current best-practice standards, while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety, comfort, and service excellence.

You will be responsible for managing multiple ultrasound units, overseeing examination quality, and supervising sonographers and support staff. The position requires expertise across a broad range of sonographic examinations, including paediatrics, MSK, small parts, vascular, obstetrics, gynaecology, general, and interventional procedures. You will also play a key leadership role in staff training, education, and professional development, while contributing to policy development and ensuring compliance with clinical and safety standards.

This is a dynamic role suited to someone who can effectively prioritise competing clinical and administrative demands in a fast-paced environment. You will work collaboratively with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver outstanding care outcomes, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining alignment with evidence-based practices. Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and on-call, as well as the ability to travel to peripheral sites, is essential.
