  1. Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution with subjects relevant to pathology and/or relevant to the practice of medical genomics 
  2. Demonstrated extensive competency within the discipline of diagnostic Genetics and Genomics, including achievements relevant to the practice of medical genomics (clinical cytogenetics, molecular genetics and genomics).
  3. Demonstrated experience with the implementation of new assays, quality improvement and risk management including an understanding of accreditation frameworks, relevant standards and quality systems.
  4. Proven leadership and management skills and experience including operational management, budget management, staff management and resource management.
  5. Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems including supervision of e-based Quality Management Systems.
  6. Extensive experience at a senior level working in the laboratory including experience in staff training and competency assessment.
  7. High level interpersonal skills including presentation and communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and interact professionally with a diverse range of people at all levels.

This is a Category A position. All recruits must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. All recruits must provide evidence against specified diseases and comply with the requirements of this policy at their own cost prior to appointment.
