Senior Clinician – Rural Health Counsellor Towards Zero Suicides Initiative
Mental Health, Drug & Alcohol
About the role
The Towards Zero Suicides Initiative seeks to provide leading best practice crisis care and support, build on local community resilience and improve systems and practices to reduce the suicide rate in NSW. Each suicide is a tragedy. The grief and loss of a loved one to suicide also heavily impacts the lives of many families, friends and communities across NSW. Suicide is a complex problem and we - as individuals, communities, the private sector and government - need to take focused and coordinated steps to reduce suicide deaths and provide greater support across NSW communities.
As a part of this program The Rural Counselling Service provides short term counselling (brief intervention of up to 8 sessions) to persons over 18 years requiring support with their mental health. This can include people experiencing a situational crisis, depression, anxiety, as well as persons who have experienced recent thoughts of suicide and are not currently receiving support through the Community Mental Health Team.
This position will be based out of Dubbo with scope to travel to rural areas within the Dubbo Hub to provide services. Apply now and join us to deliver these initiatives supporting communities around NSW to start the journey towards zero suicides.
