Registered Nurse - Oncology
Dubbo Health Service

About the role
Western Cancer Dubbo is seeking applications from experienced Oncology Nurses to join our busy team. In this role, you will be interacting with the patients and their carers while providing specialised patient-focused care. We value education, teamwork and have a strong patient focus.

With opportunities in the Infusion Suite (delivering anti-cancer medications) and the Radiation Therapy Nursing Team (supporting patients in their treatment), there is a wide range of opportunities to specialise and focus on. Duties are based on allocation of tasks from our schedule and include administering anti-cancer drugs in consultation with Medical Oncologists and Haematologists, as well as scheduling patients for upcoming treatments and managing referrals to allied health and other supportive NGO's.

Successful candidates will have experience in administering anti-cancer medications within an oncology setting with current knowledge and competency in Anti-neoplastic Drug Administration Course (ADAC) through eVIQ.  You will be able to demonstrate safe handling, administration, storage and disposal of anticancer drugs.

Our Team consists of 21 Nursing staff, each with different backgrounds and skill levels. You will be well supported by your fellow Nurses, Clinical Nurse Educators, Clinical Nurse Consultant, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nursing Unit Manager, Medical Specialists, Administration staff, Allied Health Professionals, Volunteers (Pink Ladies) and Support staff.

You will be provided with supernumerary days to assimilate and orientate, with access to regular education, and have opportunities to complete post graduate study with a pathway to Clinical Nurse Specialist status.

The Oncology Nursing Team work Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00. The Western Cancer Centre is generally closed on weekends and public holidays so no shift work is required.  The Team also provides an outreach service to Mudgee, Coonabarabran, Cobar and Brewarrina.

Our single goal is to build thriving communities and healthier rural people, and the interesting and challenging work scenarios you will face each day will build your competency to play a vital role in helping us achieve this aim.
