Registered Midwife
Dubbo Health Service
About the role
Are you looking for a change? You never know - regional New South Wales might be the place for you.
Dubbo Health Service is a Level 5 maternity service with a Level 4 neonatal care nursery, caring for babies from as early as 32 weeks’ gestation. Our catchment stretches as far west as Broken Hill and north to the Queensland border, serving a large and diverse population.
Each year, we deliver 1,200 - 1,300 babies, and only half of these families live within 50 km of Dubbo. That means variety is guaranteed. From low-risk and no-risk clients to complex, high-risk pregnancies, our team sees it all. One moment you may be delivering a premature baby, the next you could be supporting a patient with hypertension and rapidly changing blood pressures.
Around 85% of antenatal care is provided through the public hospital system, with models of care including midwife-led, MAPP program, high-risk antenatal clinics, and private obstetrician care.
We are a strong team of 75+ staff, working across full-time and part-time roles, including Midwifery Educators, Midwifery Consultants, Clinical Midwifery Specialists, and supportive Managers - you’ll be well supported in your practice.
In Dubbo, the commute is stress-free - most of us travel less than 15 minutes to work, giving us more time doing the things we love, all while building a rewarding and meaningful career.
Dubbo Health Service gives you the opportunity to use the full scope of your midwifery skills. Whether you’re a newly registered midwife or have years of experience, there’s a place for you here. Some days you’ll use every skill you have; on others, you’ll be honing specific parts of your practice - no two days are ever the same.
We’re also a teaching and training hub with a wide network of support. Our team includes Clinical Nurse Specialists, Midwifery Educators, Midwifery Managers, and an experienced Obstetrics Team - including registrars on the RANZCOG training program - all working together to deliver evidence-based care.
We support the next generation of health professionals through:
Direct-entry Midwifery Students completing their clinical placements with us
Newly Registered Midwives who are mentored and supported as they transition into practice
A postgraduate midwifery training program, with six to nine students at any one time
Undergraduate Medical Students from the University of Sydney’s School of Rural Health training alongside us
Behind the scenes, our work is made possible by a dedicated Administration and Clerical Team, keeping everything running smoothly.
If you value variety, teamwork, and the chance to make a real impact in maternity care - Dubbo has it all.
