About the role
An opportunity is available for a motivated and reliable Hospital Assistant to join the Patient Support Services team at Grenfell Multi Purpose Service. This part time role is an important part of the hospital environment, supporting both patients and clinical staff by ensuring high standards of cleanliness, food service and general support across the facility.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate good physical fitness and the capability to safely perform all duties throughout the duration of each shift. Shifts are on a rotating roster, times include 6:00am to 2:30pm, 10:00am to 6:30pm or 11:00am to 6:30pm.

Grenfell’s Patient Support Services team consists of approximately twenty staff who work across cleaning, catering and laundry services to support the day-to-day operations of the facility. As part of this team, you will contribute to maintaining a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for patients, residents and visitors.

Cleaning duties include the thorough cleaning of patient rooms, ward areas and public amenities to maintain infection control standards. The role also involves assisting with laundry tasks such as loading and unloading commercial washing machines, laundering mops and cloths and completing a range of other tasks in accordance with the relevant award requirements.

When rostered to catering duties, you will assist with the preparation of meals including salads and sandwiches, portioning and serving meals and desserts, and delivering meal trays to patients and residents. The role also involves collecting meal trays, delivering morning and afternoon teas, collecting menus and assisting with general kitchen cleaning and other related duties.

Working closely with both the Patient Support Services team and nursing staff, the successful applicant will help ensure the best possible experience and outcomes for patients and residents within the service.

Comprehensive support will be provided as you learn the role through a buddy system, allowing you to work alongside experienced team members while gaining confidence in your duties. Ongoing guidance and support from the wider team will ensure you feel welcomed and well supported as part of the Grenfell Multi Purpose Service community.
