About the role
Our goal to build 'healthier rural people and thriving communities' is the shared responsibility of all involved in care of our patients and the Hospital Assistant is an integral and valued member of our team.
You will help nursing staff in hospitals and other health care establishments with non-medical duties including housekeeping, portering patients and general assistance.
This varied and interesting role which may include transferring patients within the hospital, linen maintenance & medical supply restocking, cooking and/or preparing light refreshments of patients, general cleaning as required including rooms and equipment and assisting generally as directed by nursing staff.
You will need to be reliable, punctual and energetic, physically fit, have a caring and supportive attitude and use your good communication skills to be able to follow instructions and work as part of a team. Remaining calm in emergencies and the capability to handle equipment such as wheelchairs, beds and other medical equipment is also valued.
The hours are Monday to Friday 0630 to 1500.
The team is only small & everyone is easy to get along with & happy to help others when asked. The successful applicant will work closely with other cleaning staff & build to working independently when comfortable in the position.
The successful applicant will be supported with online & on the job training.
