Drug & Alcohol Clinician
Community Mental Health – Dubbo

About the role

The Drug & Alcohol clinician is part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for providing expert Drug & Alcohol clinical services in collaboration with consumers, carers and other care providers using an integrated and person centred approach.

 

The Drug & Alcohol clinician will provide Drug and Alcohol intake, assessments and treatment for clients seeking assistance with their substance use problems and/or comorbidity issues - provide clients who use drugs and alcohol and their families within a Harm Minimisation Framework.  A variety of psychosocial interventions are used, primarily evidence-based approach of Motivation Interviewing and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.  

Drug & alcohol service actively collaborate with Mental Health Services in treatment planning and provision with shared care clients.  Additionally, working with Opioid Treatment Program, MERIT program, consultation and referral to other agencies for support or crisis management.

 

This position is based with the Magistrate Early into Treatment program and Substance Use in Pregnancy parenting programs. Co-located with the Mental Health Team – including the Acute Continuing team, FACT team, Child & Adolescent Team, Older people Mental health team.

 

This position will be located in Dubbo and outreaching to Wellington, Narromine and Gilgandra.
