About the role
This exciting position is based in Cowra Hospital. Cowra Health Service is a procedural hospital with 30 beds including 24-hour emergency care, acute and sub-acute/non-acute inpatient services including medical, surgical, rehabilitation, maternity and palliative care, diagnostic services, outpatient services and a range of primary and community health care services. Cowra Health Service is undergoing a redevelopment, due to be completed in 2026.
This role provides clinical education, training and evaluation of skills and knowledge to promote and support improved nursing care. You’ll plan, deliver and evaluate clinical education programs to groups and individuals to contribute to the development of our nursing workforce, working collaboratively with nursing staff , the Nurse Manager and the Quality Nurse Manager to identify and prioritise individual and unit learning needs.

You will show evidence of advanced clinical nursing skills with demonstrated knowledge and skill using technology appropriate to the clinical area. 

As an experienced educator with a sound understanding of learning and assessment principles gained from both experience and education (such as Cert IV in Training and Assessment), you will provide day to day and one-on-one clinical education along with in-services to meet team and individual learning needs, with a focus on new/ inexperienced staff. 

You’ll use a variety of modalities, providing development opportunities to effectively engage with learners within a busy clinical environment across multiple shifts. 

Importantly, you will promote a culture of continuous learning and development within our Living Well Together framework, providing clinical leadership, including preceptorship, mentorship and role modelling, to support a collaborative approach to learning and development. 

You will monitor and evaluate educational programs through clinical competency assessments within scope of role to monitor nursing education gaps and ensure that clinical learning priorities are appropriately balanced with mandatory education requirements.   

You’ll also participate in the development and review of procedures and guidelines to improve the provision education advice and expertise.
