Selection Criteria
- Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. This is a genuine occupational qualification for this position as described under Section 14 (d) of the Anti- Discrimination Act, 1977 (NSW).
- According to discipline: Nursing (Registered Nurse) - Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse; or Occupational Therapy (Level 1/2) - Current Registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist; or Social Work (Level 1/2) - A Bachelor degree in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; or Psychology (Registered Psychologist) - Current Registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist; or Welfare Officer (Level 1/2) - Bachelor Health Science (Mental Health) through the Djirruwang Program.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, effectively manage clinical issues, think critically and solve problems.
- Knowledge of contemporary MHDA practice relevant to the service/ program/ speciality, rural/ remote service provision and practical application of relevant MHDA legislation and policy.
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to document accurately, write clearly and succinctly, consult effectively with others, and develop collaborative partnerships with a range of stakeholders.
- Competency in the use of information and communication technology, including standard office software, for email, internet searches, analysis of clinical data, presentations and clinical documentation.
- Demonstrated experiencing working with Aboriginal people and knowledge of clinical challenges and effective approaches in providing mental health and drug and alcohol services to Aboriginal people.
- Must hold a current licence to drive in NSW and ability to travel occasionally for the purpose of service delivery.
